Chugh said Punjab, known as the sacred land of Gurus, saints, and five rivers, was facing a serious challenge due to the increasing drug problem that has affected thousands of families and young people across the state.
Describing the spread of “chitta” as a “tsunami”, the BJP leader said every section of society must come forward to combat the menace. He urged Honey Singh to use his voice, popularity, and influence to motivate youngsters to stay away from drugs.
Chugh said Honey Singh’s personal journey and comeback after a difficult phase in life could serve as an inspiration for Punjab’s youth. “If Yo Yo Honey Singh can overcome difficult circumstances and rebuild his life, every youngster in Punjab can also come out of the grip of addiction,” he said.
Appealing to young people to stay away from drugs such as chitta, smack, and injectable narcotics, Chugh stressed the need to adopt a healthy lifestyle.
He added that Punjab’s true identity lies in its culture of milk, curd, lassi, ghee, and hardworking youth, and not in drug abuse.
